This pack trip takes you to the most remote wilderness area in the lower 48 states. It is a region that is home to the headwaters of both the Snake and Yellowstone rivers. It includes a journey along Yellowstone Lake, through the Thorofare, over Two Ocean Plateau, up the Snake River Canyon, and into the Red Mountains. There can be great fly fishing on this trip, depending upon the time of year, and it can be an excellent trip for viewing wildlife. The variety of scenery is unparalled on our trips through Yellowstone. This trip is featured in our Sample Pack Trip.
The Thorofare is home to all of the major species in the park, including grizzlies, black bear, moose and the Delta wolf pack.
This is the pack trip that we most highly recommend. This trip has Progressive Campsites. It covers 80.6 miles, lasts six days, and the total cost is $2,400 per person.
This trip should be compared closely to our Waterfalls trip. Both are great trips offering rather different things.
To the middle right is a Three Dimensional Animated Map that you can download. It will show you the terrain, route and campsites of this trip.
To the bottom right is an overview of the entire trip. You can compare this route with our other trips as well as prices by visiting our maps page.
Be sure to check out the number one selling CD in Yellowstone by your guide, Jett Hitt. It is a full scale violin concerto recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony.
