The son of a Lutheran minister and the grandson of German immigrants to North Dakota, Berry has pursued a wide variety of experiences to bring him to where he now calls home. He has built log homes from scratch, farmed, and operated/owned a garage door company for 25 years. His formal education was in musicology and applied trumpet. He did both his BA and master's degree work at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Bob has been heavily involved in the history of Sam Houston as member and president of the Sam Houston Folk Festival.
He has a state of the art collection of old stereoviews of Yellowstone National Park. This collection has been in the making for almost 20 years and contains many one of a kind images. It has been utilized by institutions and individuals for both articles and books. There is also his own book project. He and co-author Paul Rubinstein are writing a book on the history of the stereoviews of Yellowstone Park (1871-c.1900). It should be completed by 2006. Bob brings to your backcountry experience a wealth of historical knowledge of the Park. There are lots of stories to hear, and he can brag a lot about the Park that he loves and other things-- forgive him, he's from Texas.

Be sure to check out Yellowstone outfitter Jett Hitt's CD. It is a full scale violin concerto inspired by Yellowstone National Park and recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony. It is so well liked that radio stations are using it as donor gifts in their annual fund-raisers. Check it out!
