Denver- Twelve hour drive from the south, north and east gates.
Idaho Falls - Two hour drive from the west gate.

That depends upon many things. If you are flying to us, we are located in Gardiner, Montana at the north gate of Yellowstone, and that is the region where day rides take place. If you are coming on a pack trip, it depends upon where that trip goes. For example, pack trips in the southern part of the part are best approached via Cody or Jackson Hole.
The four best options are Bozeman, Cody, Jackson Hole, and Idaho Falls. These locations put you closest to Yellowstone. Sometimes you can get exceptional airfare to Billings or Pocatello that make the savings worth the added distance, though not often.
What you have to consider is increasing fuel prices, which have made flying to Salt Lake or Denver pretty impractical. The best approach is to determine where you have to be the first night, compute the distance and compare the savings of airfare, fuel costs and time. Remember that your Yellowstone vacation will be spoiled if you are so exhausted from travelling that you cannot enjoy your visit.
If you are coming on a pack trip, consider the lodging and transportation package that we offer with Robin's Nest Bed and Breakfast. This is a great option for trips in the southern part of the park, saving you the hassle and costs of renting a car. For trips in the northern part of the park, Bozeman is the most convenient option.
The cheapest option is almost always Jackson Hole. However, be sure to compare prices. There is no rhyme or reason to airfare pricing.
Be sure to check out the number one selling CD in the Park by your outfitter and guide, Jett Hitt. You can download samples of this full scale violin concerto that was inspired by the Park and recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony. It is the perfect sound track to your Yellowstone vacation.
