Class A (Combination Vehicle) is for vehicles with a GCVWR 26,001 pounds and over. (This is what you must have!)
GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is a number on every vehicle (check inside driverÕs door for manufacturerÕs sticker) rating it to carry a specified weight. Add the GVWR for both the truck and trailer and you get a combination vehicle rating (GCVWR).
You will also need an airbrakes endorsement.
You must provide the appropriately rated truck and trailer to take your test in. You may need to rent a vehicle or borrow one from a friend. (Some third party testing companies will rent you one for your test.)
Must get the interstate license (allows you to drive anywhere in the country)
Google your state CDL manual (look for .gov sites)
Download manual - has all info on requirements, testing locations, material to be covered on each test.
Some states may require you to take a driving class.
Most states require a basic medical physical.
Farm permit will not work for what we do.
2 parts to test: written & driving.
Written: general questions, transporting cargo, combo vehicle sections
You will also need an airbrakes endorsement.
Driving: pre-trip inspection, skills test (backing), driving (town & highway)
Finally, to work for us, you will have to have a pre-employment drug test and a current medical card.

Be sure to check out the number one selling CD in Yellowstone by your guide, Jett Hitt. It is a full scale violin concerto recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony.
